Updated Authors Note (posted January 2, 2009) Dear Readers, I am having the remaining print copies of Absolute Infinity destroyed. I must also sincerely apologize to anyone who has read the story in its current state. I'm not sure how this happened, but as is with many things in life, the correct path doesn't always reveal itself immediately. Inexplicably, for the four years I spent creating Absolute Infinity, and the four years after its publication, I hadn't realized that there was a major conceptual problem in the book. Simply stated, God delivers judgment on three characters in the story (and many others later, although without grisly details) utilizing torture. The torture is technically not physical, as it occurs completely in their minds; however the effects are the same. I woke up one morning last week, and it suddenly dawned on me that nowhere in the Bible does God promote torture. God's final judgment, even when harsh, includes nothing so unnecessary. Torture, no matter where the concept actually hails from, is practiced and promoted by humans only. Why I would write the three passages in question escapes me; the only reason I can think I would have penned such venom is because historically I've been very angry about injustice in the world. However, it is not for me to speak on behalf of God, and I certainly don't wish to be a purveyor of false ideas about the Creator of the Universe. Most importantly, it is my sincerest hope that by removing the text in its current state from public consumption, I will have made sufficient amends for my mistake. Let it be demonstrated for, and known by, all who read this message: there are much more important things in life than money and material possessions. January 2nd, 2009 Nicolas Valenzuela
The Original Author's Note Absolute Infinity is not a blueprint for a spurious religion; it is a challenge to common dogma regarding spiritual beliefs, the structure of reality, and the meaning of life. My greatest wish since childhood is to understand what is going on behind The Curtain; though it can be a lot of fun out here in the audience. Throughout recorded history, the wonders that occur within this story were considered impossible. In the last half of the twentieth century, they became merely improbable. As of the first finished draft of this book, their realization is only a matter of time, based on trends in science and technology. There are people like Diego living right now in the world as you read these words. Whether or not they are disfigured is irrelevant. The significant trait they possess is an extreme aversion to how all people treat each other; you and me included. May they show the world, once and for all, our universal illusion of personal power is not meant for the detriment of each other. If by some happy circumstance this story happens to help inspire them to wring forth a history changing event, then my life will not have been in vain. To you brave thinkers out there who seek truth at the expense of your own peace of mind, take heart: with God all things are possible. For the rest of us ... the party is almost over.
