Love to hate

I was watching some YouTube and came across an odd statistic. Apparently a Harvard/Harris poll conducted on September 15-16 found that Joe Biden's approval rate dropped to 46 percent with Americans. This makes sense I suppose with all the problems that the media is telling us are going on with his administration right now, such as Afghanistan, vaccine mandates, the encampment at our border in Del Rio, Hunter's emails are now being recognized by the mainstream media as actual proof of corruption (a year too late)...these all seem to suggest Biden's having problems.

But the truly shocking number in that same poll was that Trump, who isn't even running for office, has a 48 percent approval rate!

How could this even be possible?

I thought about it for a while and I realized it's because too many people love to hate more than they utilize common sense.

That sounds too radical? Try watching this brief skit that may ring a bit too true for some of you:

Love to hate

Surely neither Biden nor Trump are complete idiots nor totally evil. Yet what happened to Trump for four years seems to be starting up with Biden as well, which could suggest that the mainstream media, often accused of being too far left collectively, is more interested in stirring up anger and fear than actually staying on one side.

Why would they wish to create chaos instead of fairly reporting the news? We've all known the answer for a while now: more sensation creates more ratings, ratings generate more money, and money is more important than truth. This formula works because many people appear to eat up negativity with a large spoon.

This is why Trump started the meme about Fake News. Even people who still hate the Orange Man (who is no longer in a position to potentially destroy their world) have to admit that the spotlight that's been shed on mainstream media has uncovered some ugly truths regarding their methods of operation. Never mind how no one on the Left seems to acknowledge that none of the media's four-year-long prognostications of Trump's destruction of our country ever actually came to fruition.

Back to the point of this essay.

We can shift the blame for our hatred and unwillingness to forgive anywhere we want: mainstream media, politicians, political parties, racism, white supremacy, inflation, class inequality, COVID-19 stress, etc.

But in the end, we're the ones who decide to believe the rumors, dire predictions, accusations, and in some cases, outright lies. We decide to listen and join the hatred; no one makes us do that.

So, if the country eventually falls due to all this hatred...as V once said it so eloquently in V For Vendetta, "If you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror."
